Game summary:

KC started off pool play vs. Grand Haven. Set one started off strong for the Giants with smart shots and quick defense. Grand Haven pulled away half way through with some strong serving and took the set 14-25. In set two the Giants offense came to life with strong swings all around. The Giants earned a lead and held onto it even with a late run from Grand Haven. KC won the set 25-23.

Game two was vs. Traverse City West. Again strong serving by the opponents gave TC the lead and they took set one 17-25. KC came back strong in set two with great blocking and swings out of the middle. KC rolled to a set two victory 25-15.

The second round of pool play began against the host team, West Ottawa. It was not a great showing for KC as West Ottawa took both sets easily, 3-25, 13-25.

The last game of pool play for the Giants was against St. Joe. St. Joe came out aggressive in set one and found open spots on the court. They won 18-25. The Giants block and offense woke up in set two, with smart shots down the line and aggressive tipping and the Giants took set two 25-16.

Advancing to the silver bracket, KC faced St. Joe in the semi-final. St. Joe started set one off strong, making the Giants work hard in defense. The hard work began to pay off as the set came to a close and the Giants pulled close. St. Joe would finish the set, winning 25-19. In set two KC again had to battle from behind. This time strong outside and middle attacking would earn them the win in a close one 26-24. Set three started off looking like a St. Joe run away as the Bears went up 7-2. KC would go on a run of their own and draw the set even at 8-8. A back and forth battle ensued, and quick defense would eventually turn the set and the game to the Giants 15-13.

In the final match KC again faced TC West. Strong serving and middle attacks put the Giants on their heals and TC won the game 24-26, 20-25.
